What to include when you are planning a trip to Manali for four days

Every year, a lot of tourists plan a trip to Manali with their families and friends. Manali is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh and a popular honeymoon destination in North-India.

From snowy mountains to adventurer activities like river rafting, paragliding, and skiing, Manali has something to offer you.

There are a lot of places to visit in Manali, your plan depends on what you want to explore. If you are planning a trip to Manali, you can explore it and nearby places in 3 to 4 days.

In this post, I am giving you an example itinerary for a 4 days trip to Manali from Chandigarh in summer (March to June). If you are traveling from some other place, then add the time needed to travel to Chandigarh.

Trip to Manali – Plan

Day 1

The nearest airport to Manali is Bhuntar airport in Kullu district, but there are no frequent flights. If you need to travel by flight, then take a flight to Chandigarh or Delhi. From Delhi and Chandigarh there you can easily get a Volvo bus to Manali. I would suggest, you start early in the morning. If you are traveling from Chandigarh to Manali by Bus/Car, then It will take 7 to 8 hours to reach Manali.

As you might be tired, due to hectic traveling, you can enjoy the evening or night walk on the Manali Mall Road.

Day 2

On your second day of the trip, visit Vashisht temple, early in the morning. Dip yourself in this natural hot spring, a wondrous gift from nature to humankind. Across the Beas river, about 3km from Manali, a small village/temple Vashisht with natural sulfur springs. You will love this thing. Have a lovely breakfast and then, you can go to Solang valley for any Adventure activity.

You can also go for Rohtang Pass (make sure you have arranged Government permit on the previous day for Rohtang Pass); Solang and Rohtang are on the same route.

Day 3

On the third day, you can go to visit Hadimba & Manu Temple, shop at Old Manali Market, Clubhouse.

The Hadimba Temple is a unique shrine dedicated to Hidimba Devi, who was the wife of Bhima and the mother of Ghatothkach. Surrounded by gorgeous cedar forests, this beautiful shrine is built on a rock which is believed to be in the image of goddess Hidimba herself.

Day 4

Last day, you can also go for a short trek or river rafting. You can easily get Night Bus from Manali to Chandigarh.

If you don’t prefer to travel on Night, then you can come back to Chandigarh on a Day Bus.

Otherwise, many local tour operators can help you plan your trip accordingly, and they will arrange everything on their own.

By Bus

You can get a sleeper/semi-sleeper/AC/Non-AC Bus. You can easily book online or from Sector-43 Bus-station, Chandigarh. The per-person cost would be:

  • ~700/- from Chandigarh to Manali
  • ~1500/- from Delhi to Manali

By Flight

If you go by Flight, then per-person cost would be

  • ~4000/- from Chandigarh to Kullu
  • ~7000/- from Delhi to Kullu

By Train

Train transport is not available in nearby places. The nearest Railway station from Manali is in Chandigarh.

If you don’t have a motion sickness problem, then I suggest you take any Volvo Bus from Chandigarh. You will enjoy the scenic views when traveling on the Bus. The bus will follow this route and this is the best road route from Chandigarh to Manali:
