Best Time to visit Leh Ladakh
Summer – From April till June
The best season to go for a Leh and Ladakh visit is summer. At this time, the passes are open for tourists. The clear sky offers a splendid panorama which adds a cherry on the cake.
In the month of April, Ladakh starts receiving tourists from different parts of the world. Restaurants begin to either open or to line up for the approaching season. It is also the time when, guesthouses, camps at Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri lakes also get ready to accommodate the tourists.
In late Apr, all lakes including Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri start to melt and by mid-May, they completely melt and starts radiating the ever beautiful blue hues under sunlight.
The temperature at this time is between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, which is very pleasant to travel.
During Monsoon – From July till Mid-September
This time also good for Leh Ladakh trip. At this time, depending upon region to region, the rainfall in Ladakh is unbalanced. However, the path won’t be easy up to Baralacha la from the side of Manali and Zojila Pass from the Srinagar side. The temperature during monsoon stays approximately between 5 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees Celsius.
After Monsoon – From Mid-September to Mid-October
As soon as the monsoon ends, Ladakh comes alive yet again and showcases its fascinating beauty within the most attractive ways; the region becomes a superfluity of color and display. In winter – From Late October till March
The temperature in the valley starts reducing from the mid-October. Almost all of the tourists have deserted the place with only a few ones remaining to brave the chill. At this time almost all the hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants are closed. In winters, even locals move to the lower places and vacate Ladakh.
This is the coldest seasons of all in Ladakh when the region is completely cut-off from rest of India by road, although roads to Pangong Tso Lake and Nubra Valley over KhardungLa Pass and Chang La Pass are kept open all around the year, leaving few days of snowfall.
